A Place Without People: When the world's most famous nature reserves were created in the 50's and 60's, few people know that the indigenous people of East Africa, who had lived there in harmony with nature for 3000 years, were evicted from these areas. Tanzania is today the eighth poorest nation in the world. Yet, in a country under stress with most of its people mired in poverty, the government, the tourist industry and conservation organizations, have advanced the idea that the native Africans are intruders into what was once their own pristine wilderness.
